Customer Review & Feedback: Using a UTI Self-Test
Abingdon Simply Test is proud of the range and quality of the self-tests we offer and the benefits they can provide. We were delighted when one our customers kindly provided us with valuable feedback on their positive real-life experience of using our UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) self-test.
This case study shows how self-testing can help patients get treated quickly and effectively, whilst making efficient use of GPs’ time and resources to support their wellbeing when they know something isn’t right.
Customer Background
“As a female aged 65, I developed what was diagnosed as being a UTI. This was via a telephone consultation and confirmed via lab testing with a urine sample I gave my GP. This was a new experience to me. Following a 3-day course of antibiotics, I was still unwell, and a second 3-day course of antibiotics was prescribed. I felt much better and was no longer unwell, but I was not convinced that the infection had gone. I was reluctant to phone the GP again.”
Using The UTI Self-Test
“I acquired a UTI self-test from Abingdon Simply Test. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Essentially, after collecting a [urine] sample in the receptacle provided, I dipped the indicator strip and compared the colours with the chart provided. The results were instant, I read and recorded (photographed) the results on the strip within 2 minutes.”
The Results and Next Steps
“I tested negative for protein, leukocytes and small blood traces, but positive for nitrites. I was able to confidently contact the GP to explain that I had tested positive for a UTI. I attached the results to an email and sent them on to the GP. A further 7-day course of antibiotics was issued without preamble, and I am happy to report that I am now clear of infection.
The GP informed me that such infections are common in women of my age. I have resolved to store a selection of the tests so if there is a recurrence of symptoms, I can access a treatment programme more quickly to stave the symptoms becoming worse and the possibility of affecting the kidneys.”
“I would definitely recommend this product to family and friends.”
